Challenges and difficulties for the textile industry

According to the assessment of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, in 2022, textile and garment enterprises may still face many challenges such as raw material costs (yarn prices) and international shipping costs are forecasted to continue to increase or at a high level for at least the first half of 2022. In addition, the cost of epidemic prevention in the production process is still a burden for businesses.

Besides, although the order structure of 2022 has changed compared to 2021, knitted orders are more. While many businesses in the industry currently have orders until the second and third quarters of 2022, it is not possible to predict what the market will be like after that because it depends a lot on the epidemic situation.

In addition, according to experts, although the textile and garment market has prospered, many competitors of Vietnam's textile and apparel industry such as China, Bangladesh, India, etc. have also accelerated and made many efforts to make up for the shortfalls. on turnover in 2021.

In addition, the Ministry of Industry and Trade said that the majority of businesses in the supply chain of the textile and garment industry that process for major brands in the world have received the requirements of "greening in production" such as performing their responsibilities. social, environmental and emission reduction. These are also criteria to evaluate competitiveness when participating in international supply chains.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade also pointed out that the biggest barrier for businesses today is the large investment in machinery and technology. However, it is not because it is difficult to stop, because if you lose customers, businesses will not be able to maintain operations. Therefore, the transformation towards "greening" is an urgent issue for businesses.
