Actively innovate

According to the Vietnam Plastics Association, the challenge for businesses today is that many of Vietnam's major import markets have increased requirements for using environmentally friendly materials for product packaging. In particular, the EPR regulation - extended responsibility of the manufacturer is also a matter of concern. This regulation does not stop at products but extends to post-consumer waste management. This forces businesses to find ways to reduce waste into the environment and increase the ability to recycle and reuse.

Similarly, garment and textile enterprises also said that markets in many European countries are setting regulations on which textiles and garments exported to the European market must have a long life and can be reused. This requires manufacturing enterprises to use recycled, environmentally friendly fibers.

Also to meet export requirements, Mr. Than Duc Viet - General Director of Garment 10 Corporation said that by 2025, the company aims to switch to using raw materials of natural origin and raw materials. recycling, in order to meet green and circular production, to catch up with the trend that importers from Europe, America, and Japan require.

The Vietnam National Textile and Garment Group (Vinatex) said that it has begun to receive many orders with an increasing recycling rate, towards a package production of 1 green product. "We have had orders lasting 4-5 months from recycled spinning, knitting, dyeing, sewing. This product can reach 25% of the total output" - Mr. Le Tien Truong - Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vietnam National Textile and Garment Group (Vinatex) informed.

According to information from the Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association (VITAS), the goal is that by 2023, textile enterprises that are members of the VITAS Sustainability Committee will reduce their energy consumption by 15% and water consumption by 20%. These are all criteria to improve the competitiveness of enterprises as well as participate more deeply in the global supply chain.

According to experts, these requirements pose problems for businesses in terms of technological innovation, design improvement, and product quality. This requires a systematic and comprehensive combination of technical, legal and environmental expertise. Although it can be costly in the early stages, in the long run, this response will help create added value for products and enhance the position of Vietnamese enterprises in the international market.

Take the opportunity

Vietnam is increasingly integrating deeply. The signing of bilateral and multilateral trade agreements opens up great opportunities for import and export enterprises. For example, the EVFTA Agreement is one of the few agreements on very high standards that Vietnam participates in, which has helped Vietnam's export growth to the EU reach over 14%.

Mr. Luong Hoang Thai - Director of the Multilateral Trade Policy Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade) noted that currently, the EU market is tending to shift very strongly to consuming green, clean and meeting goods. about labor, about the environment... that is, they not only ask about price and quality but also care about the production process of such goods. Enterprises need to anticipate this trend, if successful, the value obtained in the process of exporting to the EU will be much larger.

In addition, the EU is a very demanding market with many technical requirements, animal and plant quarantine, and even standards that importers set themselves. This requires businesses to change models, to best meet the tastes in the EU market, thereby exploiting effectively, long-term and sustainably "- Mr. Thai recommended.

In order to conquer difficult markets, Mr. Vu Ba Phu - Director of the Trade Promotion Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade) said that businesses need to quickly meet green standards to get a competitive advantage. when other exporting countries get ahead.
