Committed to future fashion
Always innovating, creating, fashion breaking all limits. However, from the heavy destruction that the fashion industry brings to the environment, it is increasingly important to promote sustainability so that it can take on the appearance of a beautiful and active lifestyle. Therefore, "fashion" and "sustainability" - two categories that seemed difficult to reconcile, now stand side by side and become a trend. “Sustainable Fashion” was born as a commitment to the future of fashion, transforming it into a green and Earth-friendly industry.
We have been on a sustainable fashion journey. At the seminar "Sustainable fashion - Where to start?" Organized by the Delegation of the European Union to Vietnam over the weekend, Italian Ambassador Antonio Alessandro said that currently, around 20% of the world's materials and operations of textile and garment factories have been improved to reduce Environmental pollution from textile and dyeing activities. More and more people want to switch to more organic, environmentally friendly materials.
The concept of "sustainability" includes not only what materials are used to make and dye clothes, but also earlier steps in the supply chain, from growing organic cotton to making garment materials, to using materials. Recycling, to the production, packaging, and transportation processes are all towards being environmentally friendly and responsible to employees.
Last March, the European Commission launched a Strategy for Sustainable Development of the Textile and Garment Industry, which contains many different goals and targets for European fashion, related to the import of raw materials and products. garments from other countries into Europe.
Sustainable fashion is based on consumer support and that's an important trend. Many people tend to switch to using more friendly fabrics, such as linen, lotus silk, banana fiber... The clothes are made from natural materials, recycled materials, reducing the use of chemicals. highly appreciated by consumers. “The transformation in the fashion industry towards more sustainability is led by consumers. Consumers today have requirements for sustainability, and that is the spiritual value they uphold, from which the textile industry must be more environmentally friendly” - Ambassador Antonio Alessandro said.

Spread the green message
Around the world, more and more designers and fashion manufacturers are looking for environmentally friendly solutions and Vietnam is no exception to that trend. During a recent international fashion week, for the first time, sustainable fabrics regenerated from seemingly discarded materials such as coffee grounds, oyster shells, lotus stems and leaves, PET bottles... were flown for the first time. uplifted and sublimated in the collection of Vietnamese designers. In addition to redefining the beauty of fashion, the appearance of these collections also conveys a positive message, spreading a green lifestyle, revitalizing "scrap" by giving them a new look.
Ms. Ha Do - Creative Director of Dep Magazine commented: Sustainable fashion has motivated designers to mobilize their creativity and imagination to make better use of recycled materials. Currently, some designers in Vietnam also create many high-quality materials made from natural and local materials; there are fashion brands recycled from old clothes...
However, sustainable fashion development is not only from the efforts of designers and manufacturers, but also has a large role of consumers. According to Ms. Ha Do, it is not wrong to follow the latest fashion trends, but we should also be more aware of the fashion labels we choose and how they make products. Besides, if you buy and change clothes constantly, more clothes are produced, more carbon emissions are emitted, fashion waste pollutes the environment... Therefore, choose quality clothes. good, suitable for itself and can be used over and over again; Coordinating clothes and accessories to create something new is also an act of showing responsibility to the environment.
“People often think that a sustainable, waste-free lifestyle is difficult to apply to fashion, or beauty. Because it is a trend-following, creative industry with continuous innovation. However, I think that in any field, we can move towards a sustainable lifestyle from changes in thinking and perception of the surrounding environment, from which we can change our actions. It's just a very small action," shared H'Hen Niê, Miss Universe Vietnam 2017, who has an influence on young people with a green lifestyle. H'Hen Niê also said that although her job has to appear a lot in front of the media, she limits buying a lot of clothes, tries to wear clothes again, and takes advantage of costumes as much as possible. She also likes variations to avoid the boring feeling of wearing old clothes again...
Sustainable fashion is the inevitable trend of the future. However, it is not a destination but a long and persistent journey. On that journey, brands, fashion businesses and consumers all need to constantly learn and change to become environmentally friendly.
