Quality productivity is one of the two main tools to help textiles increase their competitiveness

According to statistics, at present, the localization rate of the textile and garment industry is over 48%, compared to other industries at a high level, but it also poses a problem for scientific research. Labor productivity in 2010 with 1 employee reached 10,700 USD for export, but in 2019 has increased to 20,300 USD. Productivity has increased 1.9 times, while labor has decreased from 93,000 people / billion USD to more than 49,000 people / billion USD. This has a great contribution of science and technology (Science and Technology).

According to Dr. Hoang Xuan Hiep, Rector of Hanoi University of Textile Industry, in order to compete, the textile and garment industry has two main tools that need to be improved: quality productivity and localization rate. In the coming time, Vietnamese enterprises will need one more tool, greening textiles. European countries have very clear regulations on the rate of product recycling… This is an issue that needs in-depth research in order for Vietnam's textile industry to approach the world market.

“Currently, the readiness level for the industrial revolution 4.0 of textile and garment enterprises is still at an average level with 2.73/5 points. If we do not focus on science and technology, we will not improve the competitiveness of the industry,” said Mr. Hoang Xuan Hiep. At the same time, it is still difficult for textile and garment enterprises to access data on domestic and international technology supply.

In fact, businesses that want to access technology do not know where to look and vice versa, when technology is available, schools and institutes do not know to whom to transfer it. Besides, the promotion of science and technology market of the textile and garment industry has not been implemented. For example, there is a lack of trade promotion activities at fairs and exhibitions, and the connection between textile enterprises and scientific research centers at universities and research institutes is still limited.

The textile and garment industry needs to improve productivity and quality, and increase the localization rate to increase competitiveness in the market. Illustrations

In addition, State policies related to the commercialization of scientific and technological products that are public property still have problems, such as: Public property must be valued before commercialization; The law requires the return of the State's investment in research. Incentive policies on taxes, loans and technical infrastructure for high-tech projects have not been paid enough attention. The State has no policy to support textile and garment enterprises; In terms of infrastructure, there is no industrial park of any size.

Promote technology application

According to General Director of Vietnam National Textile and Garment Group (Vinatex) Cao Huu Hieu, the need of enterprises is always to improve techniques, apply new technologies in production, business and administration to bring the highest profit. . To do that, it is necessary to cooperate and cooperate very closely from scientists, schools, research institutes and businesses. Therefore, in the coming time, it is necessary to further strengthen the connection between research and training units and enterprises, creating conditions for scientific research activities in the textile, garment and footwear industries to develop.

Dr. Hoang Xuan Hiep said that, in terms of macro policy, the Government considers and allows the establishment of large textile and garment industrial parks with an area of 500 hectares or more, which are synchronously invested in production technology and environmental treatment. large, synchronous field. At the same time, design tax incentives, loans... for scientific and technological activities in the textile and garment industry.

In addition, it is necessary to soon research and establish an intermediary organization on the science and technology market for the textile industry, build and develop a database system, a portal on the market of science and technology in the textile industry. At the same time, assessing the demand and supply capacity of technology in the textile and garment industry in the period of 2022 - 2030.

The proactive source of raw materials and green production will help Vietnam's textile and garment industry boost exports to markets. To realize that, it is necessary to promote research and investment in science and technology.
