The labor market has many signs of improvement from now until the end of the year

Dr. Nguyen Minh Phong, former Head of Economic Research Department, Hanoi Institute of Socio-Economic Development, said that, after the fourth stressful epidemic, the labor market in the country recently showed signs of recovery. Many people who have returned to their hometown have returned to work and added a new workforce of nearly 1 million people.

Mr. Phong said that the labor supply is relatively good, but there are two problems, one is the situation of job-hopping still happening, the other is the labor shortage in some fields such as textile or garment or textile. In industrial zones, because the workers returned to their hometowns, they have adapted to the local work and the locality also has policies to retain workers. That is not to mention a part of them left the city to return to their hometown and set up a career in the countryside, making the labor market not as abundant as before.

“The salary of employees in the past time has had a certain adjustment in some units, especially in places that want to retain and attract qualified people. In general, the picture of the labor force is relatively bright but not really optimistic, and high-quality human resources is still a problem that is being posed for the Vietnamese labor market in the coming time," he said. Nguyen Minh Phong said.

Meanwhile, Dr. Dinh Trong Thinh - Academy of Finance, said that from now until the end of the year, the labor market of the whole country in general and of Hanoi in particular will have many signs of improvement. The best evidence for this is the very high GDP growth rate of the country in the third quarter; the number of newly established enterprises increased by 30-40%; the number of enterprises returning to restore production also increased by more than 20%. Thus, the number of enterprises increases, the demand for labor recruitment also increases, so the production and business sector will continue to sublimate in the coming time.

Many people are concerned that the Covid-19 epidemic still exists and shows signs of increasing, will this affect the labor market in the near future? With an optimistic view, Dr. Dinh Trong Thinh said that the evolution of the epidemic is very complicated in the past time and will continue in the near future, this is one of the reasons that can slow down the growth and development of the economy. However, this should not be pessimistic, because the monkeypox epidemic, the Covid-19 epidemic is still capable of breaking out but the severity is reduced. After 2 years of ups and downs because of the epidemic, businesses have become familiar with and more proactive in epidemic prevention and control. It can be affirmed that, from now until the end of the year, the labor market in Hanoi in particular and the whole country in general will be more vibrant.

“We believe and hope that the country's economy will continue to develop in the midst of complicated epidemic conditions. In such a context, Vietnam's labor market will also have changes, but basically, the trend of warmer and better is very clear," said Dr. Dinh Trong Thinh said.

Commenting on the labor market from now to the end of the year, Mr. Vu Quang Thanh, deputy director of the Hanoi Employment Service Center, said that the labor market in Hanoi as well as the whole country will continue to "warm up". , because at the end of the year, businesses focus on completing the plan from the beginning of the year on production and business activities; complete the orders that have been deployed in the past time. Along with that, production activities increased (especially the production of consumer goods) to meet major holidays such as Christmas, New Year, and the traditional Lunar New Year. Like every year, the end of the year is the time, the recruitment demand of enterprises increases and the number of businesses coming to register for recruitment at the Hanoi Employment Service Center also increases.

“With positive signs of economic recovery, the labor market will continue to prosper. Recently, the Center received orders from an enterprise with tens of thousands of employees working in the North, mainly in the construction industry. Thereby, it is found that the recruitment demand of enterprises increases, the labor force looking for jobs also increases. This is a good signal of the labor market in the coming time,” said Mr. Vu Quang Thanh.

It is also said that recruiting workers is not difficult, but it is difficult to "retain" new employees, to limit the situation of workers quitting, "jumping jobs" and for employees to stick with them for a long time. In the case of enterprises, the employer must go deeply, follow closely, and grasp the thoughts and aspirations of the employees. It is necessary to look at the fact that in the past time, the increase in wages and bonuses for employees has not been as desired, while the cost of living inputs tends to increase, so it is necessary to review the mechanism for workers. For businesses with overtime mechanisms, it is necessary to focus on wages and bonuses to encourage them to work and be creative.

Along with that, it is necessary to create a friendly and dynamic working environment; focus on training technical skills for officials and employees, so that employees can be assured of being able to stick with the enterprise for a long time. Enterprises will save a lot of costs if they keep a skilled workforce, they know the job, know how to organize production, have good techniques and are highly skilled. industry is huge.
